New Dawn will offer and provide parents with the opportunity to enhance and develop the essential parenting skills needed to care for their babies and to be able to live independently thereafter. New Dawn will provide 24 hour residential care and support to five parents and their babies in a safe environment with a homely and welcoming atmosphere that is conducive to baby development.

Many of the parents who will come to New Dawn may have had very painful childhood experiences, and some may have grown up in care with separations from their parents. Others may have had less traumatic experiences as children, but for a variety of different reasons, had many difficulties in their lives which prevent them from being able to assume full responsibility for their children. At New Dawn, the accommodation and experience must reflect real life to facilitate decision making.

The principle purpose of New Dawn is to enable parents to look after their children, our focus is always on the needs of that child and on whether they are being consistently met.

Dawn Floode is a qualified Social Worker who has worked in the field of childcare and protection for over 10 years, working as a Social Worker, Senior Social Worker Practitioner and a Practice Teacher. Dawn Holds a Diploma in Social Work and is qualified to stage 1 of the Post Qualifying Award in Childcare.
