New Dawn provides accommodation for five families. There is no age limit for parents, as New Dawn will accept referrals for all women of child bearing age.

There are two bedrooms within New Dawn that can accommodate a family with two children e.g. twins or a baby and a toddler up to the age of 5 years old. A broad range of referrals will be considered by New Dawn, including:-

Parents who are themselves subject to Statutory Orders, and whose child’s name is on the Child Protection Register or subject of a statutory order.

Parents with mild learning difficulties.

All parents accepted at New Dawn will have a reasonable potential to benefit from placement at New Dawn and be able to cope in a group atmosphere.

Parents with a history of drugs and/or alcohol dependency will also be considered only if they are involved in a rehabilitation programme or willing to engage in one, and have been clean for at least three months.

New Dawn cannot accommodate parents who:

Have profound physical or mental health difficulties.

Have a dependency on alcohol or drugs such that their behaviour is disruptive to others.

Are violent or verbally abusive to the point that they are a risk to their children and other people.

Display a chronic history of self-harm.

Clearly, indications that their criminal activity will over spill into our local community.

Have a history of fire raising or arson.

Both the needs of the parents concerned and the likely effects of theibr admission upon the existing parents will be taken into account prior to her admission at New Dawn.
